Colonial City Tour of Quito

During the visit throughout the colonial area of Quito, your guide will give you a brief summary of Quito’s history while in the historical center and its importance. Here the tour will take you to visit two of the most important churches in Quito’s history and Latin America, including the Panecillo overlooking the city. Afterwards, you’ll head to the equator line, also known as the Middle of the World to visit the famous monument and do some fun experiments that cannot be done anywhere else in the world!

Once you’ve gotten a good taste of this beautiful and exciting market we’ll take the tour to Peguche to learn about the different types of music and fabrics that are made and sold here in Otavalo. Lunch will be arranged at a hacienda in the area and then we will bring you to the Sacha Ji hotel, which is home to a beautiful view of the San Pablo lake and the volcano Imbabura, significant to the people of Otavalo. Dinner will also be provided later on.

    n the morning after breakfast we will head out to the Cuicocha Lagoon, formed within the crater of an extinct volcano. Typical flora and fauna can be seen from this zone during a small hike to appreciate the views to the fullest. If hiking is not for you, you can learn to weave at an additional cost. At the end of the day you will stay the night once more at Hacienda Zuleta. On the last day in the morning after breakfast we will head out to the Cuicocha Lagoon, formed within the crater of an extinct volcano. You will see for yourself why it is called this due to the lush green forests that change within the landscape. While in Baños, we will visit the Paílon del Diablo or ¨The Devil´s Bowl¨. This is a magnificent waterfall that comes through the mountain, for certain you will be amazed! Afterwards, we’ll head back to the town of Baños to have lunch, then continue back to Quito to end the tour.

We’ll eventually make our way to Tambopaxi, a small refuge known for backpackers and trekkers in the park. Here we will enjoy a satisfying lunch while we warm up. To round up the rest of the day we’ll leave Cotopaxi National Park and continue down the Avenue of Volcanoes to the city of Riobamba where we will also stay the night. Dinner will be held in Riobamba as well.

    The following day after breakfast we will leave early in the morning to the town of Alausí. On the way, enjoy the beautiful scenery throughout the Ecuadorian Sierra. Once we arrive to Alausí we will board one of Ecuador’s beautifully restored trains. On the train we will pass through the countryside until we reach the famous “Nariz del Diablo”, or Devil’s Nose, a famous landmark. With a couple stops along the way, we’ll visit the Sibambe station and return to Alausí. Upon our return we will also visit the archeological complex, Ingapirca, which shows constructed works still in tact from Incan times. After this final visit of the day we will travel to the city of Cuenca where we will also stay the night. Both lunch and dinner will be provided throughout the day.

    This third day will take you throughout the stunning city of Cuenca. We’ll visit the historical center, famous landmarks and plazas, as well as the famous cathedral of Cuenca. You will also have the opportunity to visit a workshop where panama hats are handmade. After, the guide will take you to the airport and help you check-in, completing your tour.     Guayaquil's Botanical Garden

    Guayaquil’s botanical garden is a project that has been ongoing since 1979. The main attractions are the scientific collection of live plants that have been grown for the safety of their conservation, investigation, dissemination and future learning. Within the garden you will also find many different bird and mammal species such as white and black capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, a variety of parrots, macaws, and amazonas.

    In total there are about 324 different plant species that can be observed in their natural habitat and 73 different bird species. From inside the botanical gardens you can also see picturesque landscapes of the Daule and Babahoyo Rivers that enter Guayaquil.
